Job description
A well-respected secondary school in Maidstone is seeking a reliable and skilled Science Technician to join their Science Department ASAP . This is a full-time, permanent position supporting high-quality practical science teaching across KS3–KS5. • Science Technician – full-time, permanent • Inclusive 11–18 secondary school in Maidstone • ASAP start • Term-time plus occasional inset days • Competitive support staff salary About the Role The Science Technician will provide practical support for teaching staff, ensuring that laboratory lessons are safe, well-resourced, and efficiently prepared. You will be responsible for maintaining equipment, preparing experiments, and supporting health and safety compliance in all practical activities. Key responsibilities include: • Preparing and setting up equipment and resources for lessons • Maintaining laboratory stock and ordering consumables • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations • Assisting teaching staff during practical lessons • Supporting departmental administration and record-keeping • Checking and maintaining laboratory apparatus The Ideal Candidate • Previous experience in a laboratory or school science setting desirable • Strong practical skills and knowledge of laboratory safety • Organised, proactive, and reliable • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team • Commitment to supporting student learning and wellbeing School Ethos This Maidstone secondary school values a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where students can excel.
