Job description
A high-performing Sixth Form College in Birmingham is seeking a knowledgeable and engaging Teacher of Psychology to join its established Social Sciences faculty. The college serves students aged 16–19 from across the city and surrounding areas and has a strong reputation for academic excellence, university progression and a mature, respectful learning culture. Psychology is one of the college’s most popular subjects, with consistently strong A-Level outcomes and a high proportion of students progressing to degree courses in Psychology, Criminology, Law, Social Sciences and related disciplines. The Role You will teach A-Level Psychology to motivated Sixth Form students within small to medium-sized classes. The curriculum emphasises research methods, critical evaluation and independent thinking, preparing students thoroughly for examinations and further study. Your responsibilities will include: • Teaching A-Level Psychology across Years 12 and 13 • Planning structured lessons that develop analytical and essay-writing skills • Preparing students for examinations through targeted revision strategies • Supporting university applications, particularly for competitive courses • Contributing to enrichment opportunities such as psychology societies or lecture programmes The college values teachers who can foster discussion and intellectual curiosity while maintaining clear academic expectations. The Department Psychology sits within a well-established Social Sciences faculty alongside Sociology and Criminology.
