Design & Technology Teacher - Staines-upon-Thames, Surrey 🛠️ Shape Future Designers: Dynamic D&T Teacher Role in Staines-upon-Thames! We are seeking a versatile and passionate Design & Technology (D&T) Teacher to join a supportive secondary school in Staines-upon-Thames , Surrey. This is an excellent opportunity for an educator committed to promoting creativity, practical skills, and technological literacy within the Fringe Area pay zone. About the School: Practical Focus and Excellent Resources Our client is a well-regarded co-educational school that serves its local community and places high value on vocational and creative subjects. The D&T department is well-resourced, featuring dedicated workshops, computer suites for CAD/CAM, and a range of equipment for resistant materials, graphics, and possibly food technology. The school encourages a hands-on approach to learning and actively promotes student participation in engineering and design competitions. Key Responsibilities & Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic specialist with a degree in Design & Technology, Product Design, or a related technical field , holding QTS , and possessing proven experience teaching across the secondary age range. In this full-time role, you will: Instruction & Attainment: Deliver high-quality, practical, and theoretical lessons in Design & Technology across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and GCSE (KS4) . The ability to teach A-Level is highly desirable. Technical Proficiency: Confidently instruct students in the safe use of workshop tools, machinery, and modern technologies, including CAD/CAM, laser cutting, and 3D printing . Curriculum Development: Plan and deliver a challenging and diverse curriculum, focusing on iterative design processes, material properties, and critical evaluation. Safety & Maintenance: Assist with the daily maintenance and organization of the workshops, ensuring strict adherence to Health and Safety protocols (e.g., CLEAPSS, COSHH). Collaboration: Contribute actively to the wider faculty, sharing best practices and supporting the school's commitment to STEM and practical skills education.
