Pastoral Support Officer – Good Secondary School – Hounslow Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale School Information This Good Ofsted-rated 11–18 secondary school in Hounslow is widely respected for its compassionate pastoral systems, strong safeguarding culture, and commitment to supporting the emotional wellbeing of every student. The school serves a vibrant and diverse community and places great importance on ensuring pupils feel safe, listened to, and supported. The pastoral structure is well-established, with Heads of Year, safeguarding leads, counsellors, and specialist mentors working collaboratively. The Pastoral Support Team benefits from strong leadership, ongoing training, and access to a dedicated wellbeing hub that includes quiet rooms, counselling spaces, and intervention areas. Role Information The Pastoral Support Officer will work daily with students who require behavioural, emotional, or social support. Duties include: • Conducting 1:1 pastoral check-ins • Supporting behaviour interventions and restorative conversations • Liaising with parents, carers, and external services • Monitoring attendance and punctuality concerns • Keeping detailed records on safeguarding systems • Providing crisis support when needed • Delivering small-group wellbeing sessions • Supporting reintegration plans and pastoral behaviour programmes This role requires calmness, excellent communication skills, emotional resilience, and the ability to build trust with young people while maintaining professional boundaries. Requirements • Experience in pastoral, youth work, behaviour support, or safeguarding • Strong understanding of child protection and wellbeing • Ability to support students with empathy and consistency • Excellent communication and organisational skills • Confidence to work with challenging situations • Ability to work collaboratively with pastoral and academic staff Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
