Role Purpose The EYFS Teaching Assistant will support Nursery and Reception pupils aged 3–5. You will assist teachers in delivering high-quality learning experiences while providing targeted support for children with additional needs. You will play a key role in supporting children with SEN, EAL, or behavioural and social-emotional challenges, helping them engage with activities, develop confidence, and achieve their learning goals. Key Responsibilities Assist with delivery of EYFS curriculum through structured and play-based learning Support phonics, early literacy, numeracy, and creative development Provide one-to-one or small group support for children with SEN or additional needs Encourage positive behaviour, social skills, and independence Support daily classroom routines, transitions, snack time, and outdoor learning Observe, assess, and record children’s progress in line with EYFS framework Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, external specialists, and parents Maintain safeguarding, health, and safety procedures Support children’s emotional wellbeing and social development The Ideal Candidate The school is looking for a compassionate, patient, and reliable EYFS Teaching Assistant with: Experience in EYFS or early years settings Understanding of child development and EYFS curriculum Experience or strong interest in supporting SEN and inclusive education Calm, empathetic, and consistent approach Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills Flexibility and resilience in a busy, diverse classroom environment Training and Development EYFS induction and ongoing CPD SEN awareness and inclusion training Behaviour management and emotional wellbeing strategies Safeguarding and child protection updates The school offers progression opportunities to SEN TA, HLTA, or teaching roles.
