Job description
Welfare Officer – Good Secondary School – London Borough of Ealing Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale School Information This Good 11–18 secondary school in the London Borough of Ealing is known for its inclusive ethos, improving academic outcomes, and strong pastoral care systems. The school serves a diverse and vibrant community and maintains a culture built on respect, aspiration, and student wellbeing. The leadership team prioritises safeguarding and mental health support. The campus includes dedicated wellbeing rooms, pastoral offices, and structured intervention programmes. Behaviour is positive, and students are supported by experienced pastoral staff. To strengthen student support systems, the school is seeking a compassionate and proactive Welfare Officer. Role Overview The Welfare Officer will provide frontline pastoral and wellbeing support for students. Key responsibilities include: Supporting students with emotional and wellbeing concerns Providing first aid and managing medical needs Monitoring vulnerable students Liaising with parents and carers Supporting safeguarding referrals Maintaining accurate welfare records Supporting behaviour and attendance interventions Working with Heads of Year Promoting wellbeing initiatives Ensuring safeguarding compliance The role requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism. Pastoral Team The Welfare Officer works closely with the safeguarding lead, Heads of Year, and SENCO. Weekly pastoral meetings ensure coordinated support. Candidate Requirements Experience working with young people First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain) Strong understanding of safeguarding Excellent communication skills Ability to remain calm under pressure Good record-keeping and IT skills Commitment to student wellbeing Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible
