School Business Manager – Independent Prep School, Guildford, Surrey Location: Guildford, Surrey Contract: Full-Time, Permanent Start Date: January 2026 Salary: Competitive (Dependent on experience) About the School Our client is a prestigious independent prep school in Guildford, Surrey , renowned for its warm, nurturing environment and commitment to academic and pastoral excellence . The school prides itself on its close-knit community, modern facilities, and dedicated staff who work collaboratively to ensure pupils thrive both academically and personally. About the Role We are seeking an experienced and proactive School Business Manager to oversee the school’s financial, operational, and administrative functions . This is a key leadership position, working closely with the Headteacher and Governors to ensure the school continues to operate efficiently and strategically. Key Responsibilities: Lead on all financial management , including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting Oversee HR, facilities, and health & safety operations Manage contracts, procurement, and compliance with relevant regulations Support the Headteacher with strategic planning and resource management Liaise with external auditors, local authorities, and stakeholders Experience and Qualifications Proven experience in a School Business Manager , Bursar , or finance leadership role within an independent or educational setting Strong financial acumen and understanding of school budgets and compliance Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills Proficiency in finance software (e.g., FMS, Sage, or similar) Relevant professional qualification (e.g., DSBM, accountancy, or business management) Application If you are a motivated and strategic professional seeking a rewarding role within a respected independent prep school , please send your CV as soon as possible to be considered for this opportunity.
