Job description
A highly regarded secondary school in Taunton, Somerset is seeking an enthusiastic Design & Technology ECT to join their vibrant department on a full-time, permanent basis from January 2026 . About the Role You will teach Design & Technology across KS3 and KS4 , supporting the school’s focus on creativity, innovation, and technical precision. The ideal candidate will have experience in Resistant Materials, Product Design, or Engineering , and a passion for guiding students through exciting, real-world design challenges. Key Responsibilities Deliver engaging and practical DT lessons that develop design thinking and problem-solving. Support students with coursework and design portfolios. Ensure health and safety compliance in workshops. Participate in extracurricular projects such as design competitions and technology fairs. Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the DT curriculum. About the School This Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ academy educates over 1,000 students aged 11–18 and is part of a forward-thinking Trust known for promoting innovation and excellence in STEM education. The school offers modern workshops, CAD/CAM suites, and 3D printing facilities . New teachers benefit from exceptional mentorship and professional development tailored for ECTs. Experience and Qualifications DT ECT or Qualified Teacher (QTS/PGCE). Specialism in Resistant Materials, Engineering, or Product Design preferred. Strong technical and creative skills. Commitment to fostering student innovation and confidence. Legal right to work in the UK.
