Location: Shepherd’s Bush, West London Job Title: Intervention Teaching Assistant (SEN Focus) Start Date: ASAP Contract Type: Full-Time / Term-Time Salary: Competitive, depending on experience About the Role A forward-thinking primary school in Shepherd’s Bush is seeking a dedicated Intervention Teaching Assistant to join its inclusive learning team. This role is focused on supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) through tailored interventions and classroom assistance. You will be responsible for providing 1:1 and small group support , helping pupils to achieve academic and social-emotional outcomes. The role requires a hands-on approach , delivering interventions in literacy, numeracy, communication, and emotional regulation. You will also assist teachers in adapting lessons and classroom activities , ensuring all children have access to a differentiated and supportive learning environment. This is an ASAP start role , offering the opportunity to immediately contribute to pupils’ progress and well-being in a busy, inclusive setting. Key Responsibilities Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions for pupils with SEN Support pupils in literacy, numeracy, communication, and emotional regulation Foster positive behaviour, confidence, and independence in pupils Track, record, and report pupil progress to the SENCO and teaching staff Assist with lesson preparation and classroom activities , ensuring differentiation for SEN pupils Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals for consistent intervention support Participate in staff meetings, CPD sessions, and school initiatives Person Specification Experience supporting pupils with SEN and delivering targeted interventions Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills Patience, adaptability, and empathy for children with additional needs Relevant qualifications such as Level 3 Teaching Assistant, ELSA, or SEN-specific training Desirable: Knowledge of Talk Boost, Lego Therapy, Little Wandle, or 1st Class@Number interventions.
