Job description
Safeguarding Lead – Outstanding Secondary School – Northampton Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale School Information This Outstanding 11–18 secondary school in Northampton is recognised for its strong safeguarding culture, excellent pastoral systems, and consistent academic success. The school serves a diverse community and places student safety and wellbeing at the heart of its strategic priorities. The leadership team operates a robust safeguarding framework, with clear reporting structures, regular staff training, and strong partnerships with external agencies. The campus includes dedicated safeguarding offices and secure record-keeping systems. Due to internal restructuring, the school is seeking an experienced and highly organised Safeguarding Lead. Role Overview The Safeguarding Lead will oversee all safeguarding procedures and ensure compliance with statutory guidance. Key responsibilities include: Leading safeguarding policy implementation Managing child protection referrals Liaising with external agencies (social care, police, etc.) Maintaining accurate safeguarding records Delivering safeguarding training to staff Supporting vulnerable students Attending multi-agency meetings Ensuring compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) Advising SLT on safeguarding matters Supporting attendance and pastoral interventions This is a critical role requiring discretion, professionalism, and strong leadership skills. Safeguarding & Pastoral Team The Safeguarding Lead works closely with the Headteacher, SENCO, and pastoral leaders. Weekly safeguarding meetings are embedded into school practice. Candidate Requirements Extensive experience in safeguarding within education Strong knowledge of KCSIE and safeguarding legislation Excellent record-keeping skills Strong communication and leadership ability Ability to manage complex cases Emotional resilience Commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
