Job description
We are seeking a friendly, professional, and organised School Receptionist to join a busy and welcoming primary school in Reading , starting ASAP . This is a key front-of-house role, acting as the first point of contact for parents, visitors, staff, and pupils, ensuring the school environment remains professional, welcoming, and efficiently run. The school prides itself on its inclusive and supportive culture. Staff work collaboratively to ensure smooth operations and clear communication. As a School Receptionist, you will be central to the day-to-day running of the school office, providing administrative support while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere. Key Responsibilities Welcome parents, visitors, and staff in a professional and courteous manner Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and manage general enquiries Maintain and update pupil and staff records accurately Support school administrative tasks and office organisation Assist with scheduling appointments, meetings, and school events Monitor office supplies and equipment Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies Provide administrative support to the leadership team as required Maintain a calm, organised, and efficient reception area The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Have previous experience in a receptionist or school administration role Be professional, approachable, and friendly Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills Be organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently Be confident using IT systems and office software Be committed to safeguarding and promoting a positive school environment Work well independently and as part of a team The school is located in Reading , with excellent transport links and a supportive local community.
