Job description
We are looking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic, and reliable EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Rainham, starting as soon as possible. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about early childhood development and enjoys supporting young children as they begin their educational journey. The school provides a nurturing and stimulating Early Years environment where children are encouraged to explore, develop independence, and build confidence. Staff work closely together to deliver high-quality provision aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, and leadership places a strong emphasis on staff wellbeing and professional development. The Role As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will work across Nursery and Reception classes, supporting children with their learning, routines, and personal development. You will assist the class teacher with daily activities, help prepare engaging learning environments, and support pupils both individually and in small groups. You will play an important role in helping children develop early communication, social skills, and positive learning behaviours. This role requires patience, creativity, and a strong understanding of how young children learn through play. Key Responsibilities Support learning activities across the EYFS curriculum Work with individual pupils and small groups Assist with observations and recording progress Help maintain a safe, engaging, and well-organised learning environment Support children’s personal, social, and emotional development Encourage independence and positive behaviour Support classroom routines, transitions, and outdoor learning Work collaboratively with teachers and Early Years staff Communicate effectively with colleagues and parents when required Who We’re Looking For The ideal candidate will: Have experience working with children in an EYFS or childcare setting Understand the EYFS framework and child development Be warm, patient, and enthusiastic Demonstrate good communication and teamwork skills Be flexible and proactive in supporting classroom needs Show a strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusion What the School Offers A supportive and experienced Early Years team Well-resourced classrooms and outdoor learning spaces Training and professional development opportunities A positive and welcoming school culture Leadership that values staff wellbeing Engaged and happy pupils Location The school is based in Rainham, with good transport links and a supportive local community.
