Job description
A vibrant Good primary school in Leicester seeks an ambitious Year 5 Teacher to join its Upper KS2 team on a Full-Time basis from January 2026. The successful Year 5 Teacher will be invited to planning sessions before January 2026, take part in induction during January 2026, and commence teaching from January 2026. This Full-Time Year 5 Teacher position offers leadership opportunities, a strong CPD offer and a collaborative staff culture dedicated to pupil progress. Role overview for the Year 5 Teacher The Year 5 Teacher will design engaging, challenging sequences that develop higher-order thinking, reasoning in mathematics and stamina in writing. The Year 5 Teacher will lead preparation for transition into upper KS2 and support pupils in developing independence and resilience. The Full-Time Year 5 Teacher will use assessment to inform targeted intervention, lead enrichment and contribute to school improvement initiatives beginning before January 2026 and continuing after January 2026. Classroom practice and the Year 5 Teacher As the Year 5 Teacher, you will model high expectations through well-structured lessons, excellent questioning and purposeful feedback. The Year 5 Teacher will deploy strategies to engage learners, use assessment for learning to personalise teaching and manage behaviour with consistency. The Year 5 Teacher will collaborate with subject leads to design ambitious curriculum units and to moderate standards across the phase starting prior to January 2026 and following January 2026. Person specification — Year 5 Teacher We are looking for a proven Year 5 Teacher with QTS, strong evidence of improving pupil outcomes and confident classroom pedagogy. The Year 5 Teacher should be collaborative, reflective and able to contribute positively to whole-school priorities. The successful Year 5 Teacher will be ready to commence pre-term planning before January 2026, attend induction in January 2026, and teach as a Full-Time Year 5 Teacher from January 2026.
