About the Sociology Department: The Sociology department is a dynamic and collaborative team with a shared passion for exploring social issues and understanding the complexities of human societies. About the Role: Teach Sociology at GCSE and A Level, inspiring and challenging students to develop a deep understanding of sociological concepts and theories. Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities. Utilize a range of teaching methods and resources, including discussions, debates, case studies, documentaries, and sociological research, to bring Sociology to life for students. Assess student progress, set challenging targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys and stretch the most able students. Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Sociology curriculum remains relevant, challenging, and inspiring for all students. Foster a love of Sociology in students, encouraging them to explore social issues, develop their sociological imagination, and become informed and engaged citizens. Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to maintain our high standards of teaching and learning. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Sociology education. Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities and enrichment programs. Ideal Candidate: Holds QTS or equivalent. Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Sociology, with a strong academic background and a passion for the subject. Demonstrates a passion for teaching Sociology and a commitment to inspiring and challenging students. Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills, with the ability to engage and motivate a highly able student body. Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and stimulating learning environment. Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for Sociology and relevant examination specifications, with experience of preparing students for high-stakes examinations. Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
