Job description
Sociology Teacher – Surrey Secondary School – Understanding Society, Empowering Change An Outstanding secondary school in Surrey seeks a dedicated and insightful Sociology Teacher to join their Humanities/Social Sciences department. This is a full-time, permanent position, primarily teaching Key Stages 4 and 5. The school is committed to fostering critical thinking about social issues and empowering students to become active and informed citizens. Responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging and challenging Sociology lessons that explore the complexities of social life. Cover a range of sociological topics, theories, and research methods. Encourage students to critically analyze social structures, inequalities, and power dynamics. Develop students' research, communication, and argumentation skills. Prepare students for success in Sociology examinations (e.g., GCSE, A-Level). Contribute to the development of the Sociology curriculum, incorporating contemporary social issues and debates. Work at a great, Outstanding School Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). A degree in Sociology or a closely related field. Proven experience teaching Sociology at the secondary level, preferably including A-Level. Strong subject knowledge and a passion for sociology. Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
