Job description
A thriving secondary school in Watford is seeking an experienced and committed Food Technician to join their Design Technology department with immediate effect . This is a full-time role within a high-performing school that values teamwork, consistency, and student safety. The School This is a fast-paced, well-organised secondary school with a strong culture of achievement and behaviour. Students are well supported, polite, and engaged in learning. The school benefits from excellent facilities, a proactive Senior Leadership Team, and a positive staff culture. The Food department is a popular option at KS3 and KS4 and is led by an experienced Head of Department. Practical learning is a core focus, and technician support is essential to the smooth running of the provision. The Role As a Food Technician, your responsibilities will include: Preparing ingredients, equipment, and workstations for practical lessons Supporting safe and efficient delivery of food lessons Cleaning and maintaining specialist equipment and teaching kitchens Managing food stock, deliveries, and storage documentation Supporting teachers with exam and coursework requirements Assisting with risk assessments and health & safety compliance You will work closely with Food teachers and support staff to ensure pupils receive high-quality practical learning experiences in a safe and organised environment. The Ideal Candidate The school is seeking someone who: Has previous experience as a Food Technician or in a professional kitchen/school environment Holds relevant Food Hygiene certification (or is willing to complete this) Is highly organised and able to work under pressure Has strong attention to detail and safety Demonstrates reliability and professionalism Salary & Benefits Competitive support staff pay Full-time hours, term-time Supportive department and leadership team Opportunity for long-term or permanent placement This is an excellent opportunity for a Food Technician seeking a stable role within a well-run Watford school.
