Job description
Location: York Start Date: January 2026 Salary: MPS (ECT scale) A high-performing grammar school in York is seeking an enthusiastic ECT English Teacher to join its supportive and well-established English department. About the Role This full-time, permanent role involves teaching English Language and Literature across KS3–KS4, with the opportunity to develop KS5 experience as confidence grows. Pupils are academically motivated, and the department achieves consistently strong outcomes. The successful ECT will benefit from a structured induction programme, reduced timetable and close mentoring from an experienced Head of Department. The School This selective school educates approximately 1,000 pupils and is known for its calm learning environment, excellent behaviour and strong academic culture. Facilities include specialist English classrooms, extensive library resources and a dedicated Sixth Form study centre.
