Job description
A large and well-resourced secondary school in Manchester is looking to appoint a Design & Technology Technician to support their thriving DT department with an immediate start . This role is ideal for a practical individual who enjoys working with tools, materials, and young people in a fast-paced educational environment. Role Overview You will support teaching staff across a broad DT curriculum by ensuring workshops are fully prepared and safely maintained for daily teaching. Your work will directly support the quality of practical education students receive. Duties include: Preparing materials for practical lessons across multiple DT specialisms Maintaining and servicing equipment and machinery Monitoring stock levels and coordinating re-ordering of resources Supporting health & safety compliance at all times Assisting with GCSE and coursework project preparation Supporting teachers during complex practical demonstrations You will be trusted to manage the technical running of workshops efficiently and professionally. School Information This school is known for its strong pastoral systems, respectful student behaviour, and commitment to vocational and practical education. The DT department benefits from modern equipment, strong results, and a leadership team that recognises the importance of technician support in maintaining high-quality teaching. Candidate Requirements Experience in a workshop, construction or engineering environment Knowledge of machine safety and risk management Strong organisational and communication skills Reliable and self-motivated work ethic Salary Term-time only, competitive depending on experience.
