Job description
Location: Ealing, West London Job Title: Intervention Teaching Assistant (SEN Focus) Start Date: ASAP Contract Type: Full-Time / Term-Time Salary: Competitive, depending on experience About the Role A highly regarded primary school in Ealing is seeking a dedicated Intervention Teaching Assistant to deliver specialist support to pupils with SEN . This role focuses on structured 1:1 and small group interventions to help children overcome barriers in literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional learning. The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and external specialists to plan, deliver, and track targeted interventions , ensuring that each pupil reaches their full potential. You will also provide support in mainstream lessons , helping pupils engage with the curriculum in a way that suits their learning style. This role is ideal for someone passionate about child development, inclusion, and making a tangible impact in pupils’ learning journeys. About the School The school in Ealing is renowned for its inclusive ethos , focusing on personalised learning plans and supporting pupils with diverse needs. Key features include: Delivery of evidence-based interventions , including Little Wandle, 1st Class@Number, Talk Boost, and Lego Therapy Collaborative teamwork with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents Promotion of emotional literacy, resilience, and positive behaviour Regular staff development and training in SEN strategies The school provides a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment where pupils feel confident to learn, take risks, and develop independence. Key Responsibilities Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions for pupils with SEN Support pupils in literacy, numeracy, and communication development Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and self-confidence Record and monitor progress , reporting outcomes to SENCO and teaching staff Assist with mainstream classroom activities and differentiated learning Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure consistent support Participate in staff meetings, CPD sessions, and school initiatives Person Specification Experience in supporting SEN pupils or delivering targeted interventions Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills Patience, adaptability, and empathy for children with additional needs Qualifications such as Level 3 Teaching Assistant, ELSA, or SEN-specific training Desirable: Knowledge of Talk Boost, Lego Therapy, Little Wandle, or 1st Class@Number interventions.
