Job description
Location: Chiswick, West London Job Title: Intervention Teaching Assistant (SEN Focus) Start Date: ASAP Contract Type: Full-Time / Term-Time Salary: Competitive, depending on experience About the Role A vibrant primary school in Chiswick is seeking a skilled Intervention Teaching Assistant to join its committed team. This role focuses on delivering structured interventions to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) . You will work closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and external specialists to help children overcome learning and emotional challenges and reach their full potential. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting pupils both 1:1 and in small groups , delivering interventions in literacy, numeracy, social communication, and emotional regulation. Additionally, you will assist in mainstream lessons , ensuring lessons are differentiated to meet the needs of all pupils. This position is ASAP start , offering the opportunity to make an immediate impact on the learning and development of pupils in Chiswick. Key Responsibilities Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions tailored to pupils’ individual needs Support pupils’ literacy, numeracy, and communication skills development Foster positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and self-confidence Monitor and record pupil progress , providing updates to the SENCO and teaching staff Assist in mainstream classroom lessons , adapting resources as necessary Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure consistent support Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school initiatives Person Specification Experience supporting pupils with SEN and delivering targeted interventions Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills Patience, adaptability, and empathy for children with additional needs Relevant qualifications such as Level 3 Teaching Assistant, ELSA, or SEN-specific training Desirable: Knowledge of Talk Boost, Lego Therapy, Little Wandle, or 1st Class@Number interventions.
