Hammersmith, West London Position: EYFS Teaching Assistant Location: Hammersmith, West London Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm Salary: £18,500–£21,500 per annum Start Date: Immediate About the School This welcoming primary school in Hammersmith is seeking a passionate EYFS Teaching Assistant to join its nurturing early years team. The EYFS curriculum focuses on play-based learning, early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional development. Staff work collaboratively to ensure that all children, including those with SEN and EAL, receive personalised support to achieve their full potential. Staff wellbeing and professional development are highly valued. Mentoring, CPD, and collaborative planning are offered to ensure Teaching Assistants feel supported while progressing in their careers. The Role As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will: Support learning and development in nursery and reception classes Assist in delivering structured and play-based learning activities Support children with SEN, EAL, or other additional learning needs Observe, monitor, and record children’s progress, providing feedback to teachers Encourage independence, curiosity, and confidence in young learners Prepare classroom resources and assist with daily routines Additionally, you will help facilitate outdoor learning, creative play, and school trips, maintaining a safe, engaging, and stimulating learning environment for all children. Key Responsibilities Supporting children in whole-class, small-group, and one-to-one activities Delivering play-based and structured learning experiences under teacher guidance Supporting children’s social, emotional, and behavioural development Maintaining classroom routines and organisation Preparing and organising learning resources Monitoring and documenting children’s progress Supporting children with SEN, EAL, or other additional needs Participating in staff meetings, training, and school initiatives Assisting with school events, extracurricular activities, and trips The Ideal Candidate The school is seeking an EYFS Teaching Assistant who: Has experience working with children aged 3–5 Understands early years pedagogy and child development principles Is patient, nurturing, and empathetic Demonstrates excellent communication and teamwork skills Can effectively support children with SEN or EAL Brings creativity and enthusiasm to play-based learning Maintains flexibility and adaptability in a busy classroom Builds positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues Has a genuine passion for early years education Professional Development The school provides: Mentoring and guidance from experienced EYFS teachers CPD opportunities in early years curriculum, SEN, and behaviour management Training in observation, assessment, and intervention strategies Opportunities to take responsibility for specific learning areas or projects Collaboration with a skilled and supportive team What the School Offers Inclusive, nurturing, and collaborative school culture Focus on staff wellbeing and professional development Well-resourced classrooms and outdoor learning areas Long-term career progression opportunities The chance to make a lasting impact on young children’s learning and development Safeguarding Statement The school is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
