Job description
We are working with a high-performing mixed secondary academy in Staffordshire who are seeking to appoint a dedicated History Teacher from January. The role is full-time and permanent, covering Key Stages 3–5, including GCSE and A-Level History. About the Role You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, enquiry-led lessons across multiple year groups, contributing to a department that values depth, analysis, and student voice. The department is well supported and regularly updates curriculum materials. There will also be opportunities to lead fieldwork, local history projects, and historical enrichment activities that tie into wider school events. Candidate Profile We are looking for someone who: Holds QTS, PGCE , or an equivalent teaching qualification Has strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for History Is able to teach GCSE and/or A-Level (or keen to take on this responsibility) Demonstrates high expectations, creativity, and a student-centered approach Has the legal right to work in the UK The School Located in Staffordshire, this academy currently caters to around 1,500 pupils aged 11–18, with a thriving Sixth Form. In the most recent Ofsted inspection (May 2025), the school was rated Outstanding for Education, Leadership & Management, and Sixth Form provision, with Outstanding personal development and Good behaviour and attitudes. Academic achievement is strong: the school’s Progress 8 score is +0.49, and its Attainment 8 score outperforms national averages. The campus blends older architecture with modern additions and includes subject-specialist wings. The Humanities block has dedicated History classrooms stocked with resources, interactive displays, and access to digital archives and local historical maps.
