Job description
Independent School | Westminster Full-time, Permanent | Start Date: As Soon As Possible The Role We are seeking an experienced, dedicated, and highly effective Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join a well-established and nurturing Independent School in Westminster. This is a full-time, permanent position, offering the opportunity to play a key strategic role in supporting pupils with additional needs and ensuring inclusive, high-quality provision across the school. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusive education and will work closely with teaching staff, senior leaders, parents, and external professionals to ensure every pupil is supported to achieve their full potential. The Opportunity This role offers the chance to lead and develop SEND provision within a supportive, forward-thinking school environment. You will be responsible for overseeing identification, assessment, and support strategies, ensuring that pupils with SEND receive tailored, effective interventions that promote both academic progress and wellbeing. The SENCO will also play a central role in advising staff, contributing to whole-school improvement, and maintaining compliance with statutory and independent sector expectations. We Are Looking For A qualified teacher with QTS and a National Award for SEN Coordination (or working towards it) Proven experience as a SENCO or in a significant SEND leadership role Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, assessment, and inclusive practice The ability to work effectively with pupils, staff, parents, and external agencies A proactive, compassionate, and highly organised professional committed to inclusive education Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic planning skills Level 5 or 7 Diploma in SPLD or equivalent An Access Arrangements Assessor qualification at Level 7 or equivalent Salary and Benefits Competitive salary, commensurate with experience and aligned to the independent sector Excellent professional development opportunities and leadership support Small class sizes and high-quality resources The opportunity to work in a prestigious Westminster location within a supportive school community How to Apply If this looks like the opportunity for you, please submit your CV below.
