Job description
A thriving and inclusive secondary school in Welwyn Garden City is seeking a dedicated and well-organised Science Technician to join their Science Faculty for an immediate start . This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, values being part of a team, and is motivated by supporting young people in a learning environment. About the Role The Science Technician plays a vital role in ensuring that practical Science lessons run safely, efficiently, and smoothly. You will work closely with teachers and the Head of Science to prepare apparatus, resources, and chemicals for lessons across KS3–KS5 , ensuring experiments are engaging, relevant, and well-supported. Responsibilities include: Preparing and setting up practical equipment and demonstrations Supporting teachers during lab activities where necessary Ensuring safe storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals Maintaining stock levels and ordering supplies Keeping laboratories clean, organised, and well-maintained Liaising with teaching staff and the technician team to anticipate lesson needs This is a hands-on, varied role that requires initiative , attention to detail , and a calm, supportive presence. Ideal Candidate Science background (degree, lab experience, A-Levels, or similar) Strong organisational skills and attention to detail A team-player who contributes positively Comfortable maintaining safe working practices Full training can be provided for the right candidate.
