Job description
Are you an Early Career Teacher of Maths looking to begin your career in a high-performing and supportive school? • Maths ECT • Full time • January 2026 start • Teaching Maths across KS3–KS5 • Outstanding Maths department A highly successful secondary school in Reading is seeking a Maths Early Career Teacher (ECT) to join its department on a full-time, permanent basis from January 2026. The school is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Maths ECT who is keen to develop strong classroom practice within a structured and supportive environment. You will teach Maths across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach KS5 as your confidence grows. The Maths department is collaborative, well resourced, and experienced in supporting ECTs through their induction, mentoring, and professional development. School Information This mixed secondary school, rated Outstanding by Ofsted , educates approximately 1,300 students aged 11–18 and is well regarded for its strong academic outcomes and positive learning culture. The school benefits from excellent transport links and modern facilities. The leadership team places a strong emphasis on staff development, particularly for Early Career Teachers. ECTs benefit from reduced timetables, experienced subject mentors, regular coaching, and a well-structured induction programme. The Maths department is a key strength of the school, achieving consistently strong GCSE and A-Level results. Students are engaged, behaviour is excellent, and the department has a supportive and welcoming culture. Experience and Qualifications • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or completing PGCE in Maths • A degree in Mathematics or a related subject • Ability to teach Maths across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable) • A reflective and enthusiastic approach to teaching and learning Salary Paid to scale (MPS) on a direct contract.
