Job description

Full-time, Permanent - April 2025 Start Are you a passionate and inspiring Teacher of Art with a desire to nurture students' creativity and artistic expression? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our thriving Art department in a sixth form college in Hillingdon. About the College: Our college is a vibrant and academically ambitious learning community where students are encouraged to delve deeper into their chosen subjects and develop their creative potential. We have a strong track record of achievement, with our students consistently achieving excellent results in A Level examinations and progressing to top universities and art schools. About the Art Department: The Art department is a collaborative and inspiring team with a shared commitment to fostering students' artistic development and appreciation for the visual arts. We offer a rich and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of art forms, from painting and drawing to sculpture and digital media. We encourage students to explore their own artistic styles, develop their technical skills, and participate in exhibitions and competitions. About the Role: Teach Art at A Level, inspiring and challenging students to deepen their understanding of artistic concepts, techniques, and art history. Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities. Guide and support students in developing their artistic skills and portfolios, preparing them for further study and careers in the creative industries. Use a range of teaching methods and resources, including workshops, gallery visits, and critiques, to foster students' creativity and critical thinking skills. Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys. Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Art curriculum remains relevant and challenging. Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the college to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Art education. Ideal Candidate: Holds QTS or equivalent. Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Art and a passion for the visual arts. Demonstrates a passion for teaching Art and a commitment to student success. Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills. Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and stimulating learning environment. Has a good understanding of the A Level Art specifications and assessment requirements. Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
