Job description
A thriving and well-resourced 11–18 comprehensive school in Derbyshire is looking for an ambitious Early Career Teacher of Science to join its dynamic and innovative Science faculty from September 2026. The school, graded Good by Ofsted, is known for its strong pastoral systems, excellent behaviour and impressive outcomes in the sciences. It has an established record of mentoring early career teachers, offering a caring, structured and stimulating environment in which to develop your craft. The Department The Science faculty is housed in a state-of-the-art STEM centre, complete with fully equipped laboratories, preparation rooms and a modern learning hub for Sixth Form study. Teachers have access to a range of digital resources, data loggers, and practical equipment to bring lessons to life. Science is a cornerstone of the school’s academic identity. Students achieve well above national averages, and there is a real buzz around practical, enquiry-based learning. The department runs annual events such as the STEM Fair and Science Week, often involving local universities and industry partners. ECT Induction & Support You’ll be joining a highly experienced and collaborative team that supports new teachers through: A reduced timetable and protected CPD time Regular mentoring and lesson study groups Access to regional Science networks and professional learning hubs Opportunities to co-lead clubs, enrichment and research projects Teachers here are encouraged to innovate and share best practice.
