Head of Science - Hammersmith, West London 🧪🔬🧬 Lead Scientific Strategy: Head of Science Opportunity in Hammersmith! We are seeking an inspirational, highly strategic, and experienced Head of Science to lead a large and thriving department at a successful secondary school in the vibrant Hammersmith area of West London. This is a pivotal senior leadership role within the Inner London pay zone, offering the chance to shape the future of STEM education. About the School: Innovation and High Achievement Our client is a well-regarded, forward-thinking school with a strong academic ethos and a commitment to integrating technology across the curriculum. The Science department is one of the school's flagship faculties, boasting excellent, modern laboratory facilities and a strong track record of successful student progression to science-related degrees. The school values collaborative leadership and continuous professional development. Key Responsibilities & Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will be an experienced teacher and leader with a degree in a Science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics), holding QTS , and possessing a proven track record of raising standards across a large faculty. As Head of Science, you will be expected to: Strategic Vision: Develop and implement an ambitious vision for the Science department, overseeing curriculum design and delivery from KS3 through to A-Level across all three disciplines. Team Leadership: Effectively lead, mentor, and performance-manage a large team of specialist teachers and technicians, fostering a culture of excellence and shared practice. Attainment & Accountability: Use data effectively to drive intervention, monitor student progress, and ensure outstanding outcomes in all Science GCSE and A-Level examinations. Resource & Safety: Manage the substantial departmental budget efficiently, ensuring laboratories are fully resourced, well-maintained, and strictly comply with CLEAPSS and all Health & Safety protocols. Whole-School Contribution: Serve as a key link to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), contributing to broader school strategy and promoting STEM engagement across the community. Remuneration & Next Steps This senior leadership role offers a highly competitive salary package reflective of its significance and highly desirable Inner London location. Salary and Application: Salary: Highly competitive salary paid on the Leadership Pay Scale (Inner London pay scale), commensurate with experience.
