Job description
A welcoming secondary school in Sheffield is looking to appoint a French ECT to join its thriving Modern Foreign Languages department from January 2026. This full-time role involves teaching French across KS3 and KS4, with excellent support provided to newly qualified teachers. French ECT required for January 2026 start Full-time role at a well-resourced Sheffield secondary school Teach French at KS3 and KS4 with tailored ECT support This position is ideal for a motivated French ECT ready to start their teaching journey in a school that values languages and cultural learning. Experience and Qualifications QTS with a French or MFL specialism Training placement experience in secondary schools Eagerness to develop behaviour management and teaching practice Legal right to work in the UK School Information This is a welcoming and inclusive co-educational secondary school with approximately 1,100 students on roll, including a Sixth Form of around 250 learners. The school has a strong track record of supporting early career teachers through structured mentoring and high-quality professional development. The MFL department is well-resourced, with access to language labs, digital learning platforms, and opportunities for enrichment trips and exchanges. Uptake for French at GCSE is growing steadily, with around 70% of students achieving grades 4–9 in recent years. The school values languages and cultural learning, with students who are enthusiastic, respectful, and eager to engage. ECTs benefit from weekly mentoring, collaborative planning time, and a clear induction pathway designed to build confidence and classroom expertise.
