Job description
Spanish Teacher – Independent Co-Educational Secondary School, Surrey (ASAP Start) School Information This well-established independent co-educational secondary school in Surrey educates pupils aged 11–18 and is widely respected for its strong academic outcomes, excellent pastoral provision, and commitment to developing confident, internationally minded young people. The school prides itself on small class sizes, high expectations, and a supportive learning environment where students are encouraged to thrive both academically and personally. Role Information The school is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Spanish Teacher to join the Modern Foreign Languages Department as soon as possible. This is a full-time, permanent role and represents an excellent opportunity to teach Spanish in a high-achieving independent school environment. Lessons are expected to be engaging, interactive, and delivered largely in the target language, supporting students to develop confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. You will play an active role in fostering a love of languages and encouraging students to appreciate Spanish-speaking cultures. About the Spanish Department The Spanish Department is a dynamic and collaborative team of specialists committed to delivering an ambitious and well-sequenced curriculum. The department benefits from modern classrooms, digital language-learning platforms, and access to authentic resources. There is a strong focus on developing students’ linguistic accuracy alongside cultural understanding and independent learning skills. Results at GCSE and A Level are consistently strong, and students are well prepared for further study at top universities. Teachers are encouraged to share best practice, trial innovative approaches, and contribute to the ongoing development of the MFL curriculum. Requirements • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent • A degree in Spanish or a closely related subject • Experience teaching Spanish at secondary level (KS3–KS4 essential; KS5 desirable) • Strong subject knowledge and confident use of spoken Spanish in the classroom • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills • A passion for languages and for inspiring young people Application If you are interested in this Spanish Teacher position, please send your CV as soon as possible.
