Job description
An Outstanding Ofsted-rated Secondary School and Sixth Form in Ealing, West London, recognised for its consistently high science outcomes and exceptional student progress, seeks a dedicated Teacher of Science (Chemistry Specialist) for a Maternity Cover, Part-Time (0.6 FTE) role, commencing January 2026. Compensation & Contract Job Title: Teacher of Science Contract: Maternity Cover, Part-Time (0.6 FTE) Start Date: January 2026 Salary: Pro-rata salary based on the Inner/Outer London Teachers' Pay Scales (MPS/UPS). The Role The successful Teacher of Science will teach Chemistry primarily at Key Stage 4 (GCSE) and Key Stage 5 (A-Level). The Teacher of Science will benefit from a highly collegiate science department, which prioritises shared pedagogical best practice. The Teacher of Science will oversee practical laboratory work and ensure the highest standards of safety and technique are maintained. The school seeks an experienced Teacher of Science capable of motivating and engaging students to pursue scientific study at a higher level. The ideal Teacher of Science will be committed to fulfilling the departmental assessment responsibilities for the cover period. Qualified candidates are invited to join this exceptional team as a Teacher of Science. Applications are welcomed from dedicated and ambitious educators for the post of Teacher of Science. This Part-Time Maternity Cover position necessitates a highly effective and passionate Teacher of Science. Requirements A degree in Chemistry or a related subject and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Proven success teaching Chemistry at both GCSE and A-Level. Commitment to contributing to the school's wider pastoral and co-curricular provision on a pro-rata basis. An understanding of effective strategies for teaching core science to a diverse London cohort.
