Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Psychology ECT to join a high-performing and inclusive secondary school in Newcastle . This is a full-time position starting in January 2026 , offering exceptional support, mentoring, and professional growth to ensure a successful start to your teaching career. • Psychology ECT required to work full-time • Good mixed secondary school in Newcastle • Join a successful and supportive Social Sciences department with a comprehensive ECT induction programme The successful candidate will teach Psychology across Key Stages 4 and 5 , guiding students through topics such as behaviour, cognition, social influence, and research methods. The role offers an excellent opportunity to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and independent learning, while contributing to the continued success of one of the school’s most popular subjects. Department Information The Social Sciences department at the school is well-established, dynamic, and collaborative. The team includes experienced teachers of Psychology, Sociology, and Criminology, who work closely to deliver a cohesive and engaging curriculum. Students in the department consistently achieve A-Level results above the national average , and a significant number go on to study Psychology and related disciplines at Russell Group universities . The department benefits from modern classrooms equipped with interactive learning technology , access to dedicated study areas for Sixth Form students, and a strong culture of sharing best practice. Staff regularly engage in joint lesson planning, peer observation, and subject-based CPD , ensuring that teaching and learning remain innovative and research-led. Experience and Qualifications • Psychology ECT (PGCE or equivalent completed) • Excellent subject knowledge and enthusiasm for teaching Psychology • Commitment to reflective practice and continuous professional development • Ability to inspire students through engaging, well-structured lessons • Legal right to work in the UK School Information This 11–18 mixed secondary school in Newcastle is rated Good by Ofsted and widely recognised for its academic success, inclusive ethos, and exceptional pastoral care .
