Job description
A respected 11–18 secondary school in Newark-on-Trent is seeking a passionate and well-organised Teacher of History to join its successful Humanities department from January 2026. History is a valued subject within the school, with a curriculum designed to develop strong substantive knowledge alongside critical thinking and source analysis. Students are encouraged to debate interpretations, write analytically and make connections across time periods, resulting in strong outcomes at both GCSE and A-Level. You will teach History across KS3–KS5, delivering a carefully sequenced curriculum that spans British, European and global history. The department works collaboratively, sharing lesson resources and assessments, which helps ensure consistency while supporting individual teaching styles. The school has a Good Ofsted rating and is known locally for: Calm, respectful classroom environments Strong relationships between staff and students A culture of professional trust and collaboration Sensible workload expectations Enrichment is realistic and well supported, including curriculum-linked trips and themed history days rather than excessive add-ons.
