Job description
A popular primary school in Bedford is seeking an experienced Reception Teacher to lead Early Years practice from January 2026. The Reception Teacher will design play-rich provision that develops communication, early literacy and mathematical curiosity, use high-quality observation to plan next steps and lead effective transition into Year 1. This Reception Teacher role in Bedford will include induction and handover before January 2026, enabling the Reception Teacher to be ready for the spring term. • Reception Teacher required for a full-time EYFS lead role • Reception Teacher required to work within a nurturing primary in Bedford • Reception Teacher to design rich indoor/outdoor provision and lead transition work The Reception Teacher will work closely with families, lead continuous provision, support TAs in delivering focused group sessions and contribute to whole-school early-years development. Bedford’s setting offers strong pastoral support and a commitment to professional growth for the Reception Teacher. Responsibilities Plan and deliver play-based, evidence-informed Reception curriculum that promotes language and early number. Use observation and assessment to set individual next steps and run targeted small-group sessions. Lead transition activities into Year 1 and maintain close communication with families in Bedford. Support and develop TAs, maintain learning journals and ensure the environment is safe and stimulating. Contribute to whole-school EYFS priorities and staff development. Person specification Qualified teacher with strong Reception/EYFS experience and confident assessment practice. Creative, organised and skilled at building partnerships with families and colleagues in Bedford. Enthusiastic about early years pedagogy and available to start January 2026.
