Job description
A successful, inclusive, and forward-thinking 11–18 school in Wiltshire, rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, is seeking a Food Technology Teacher to join their thriving Technology Department from January 2026. This is a full-time, permanent role within a school known for academic excellence, exceptional pastoral support, and a culture that celebrates both creativity and achievement. About the Role The successful teacher will deliver Food Preparation and Nutrition across KS3–KS5, guiding students in developing a deep understanding of food science, health, and sustainability. Lessons are designed to build essential life skills through a balance of practical cooking sessions, theory-based learning, and innovative project work. The teacher will have the opportunity to lead engaging workshops, competitions, and enrichment programmes that connect food education to real-world issues such as sustainable sourcing, dietary diversity, and global food systems. There will also be scope to collaborate with local producers, nutritionists, and catering professionals, broadening the students’ exposure to modern food industries. They will play a key role in helping students prepare for GCSE and A-Level examinations, ensuring that every learner—regardless of ability—develops confidence, precision, and pride in their culinary skills. The Technology Department is a particular strength, housed within purpose-built classrooms featuring fully equipped food rooms, demonstration kitchens, digital cookery resources, and access to professional-standard equipment. Teachers work collaboratively to design a curriculum that celebrates both tradition and innovation in Food Technology. Students regularly achieve outstanding results, with many progressing to further education in nutrition, hospitality, and food science.
