Job description
We are seeking a nurturing, enthusiastic, and dedicated Year 2 Teacher to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Lincoln, starting as soon as possible. This is a wonderful opportunity for a teacher who enjoys Key Stage 1 and is passionate about supporting pupils as they consolidate early learning and prepare for the transition into Key Stage 2. The school has a positive ethos, focusing on high-quality teaching, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing. Staff work collaboratively to create a structured, engaging, and supportive classroom environment where pupils are encouraged to develop confidence, resilience, and a love of learning. Senior leadership is approachable and provides mentoring, guidance, and professional development opportunities. As the Year 2 Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering a broad and balanced curriculum, supporting pupils academically, socially, and emotionally. You will help pupils achieve key stage milestones while fostering independence and a growth mindset. Key Responsibilities Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons across the Year 2 curriculum Create a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment Use assessment to track progress and inform planning and interventions Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL Promote positive behaviour, independence, and a love of learning Prepare pupils for end-of-Key Stage 1 assessments in a supportive way Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and senior leaders Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress Contribute to staff meetings, CPD, and whole-school initiatives Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Have experience teaching in Key Stage 1, ideally Year 2 Demonstrate strong knowledge of the KS1 curriculum and assessment requirements Be organised, enthusiastic, and proactive Have excellent classroom management and communication skills Be reflective, adaptable, and committed to professional development Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing The school is located in Lincoln, with excellent local transport links and a supportive community.
