Job description
Location: North East Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire Organisation: MDMS – School Support Services Contract Type: Part-Time | Term-Time Only Hours: 1–2 hours per day, Monday to Friday A Role That Makes Lunchtime Safe, Fun, and Structured Midday in a school is a busy, lively, and sometimes challenging time. Children are moving from classrooms to the dining hall, enjoying meals, and then heading outside to play. This period is essential for their social development, wellbeing, and readiness for the afternoon lessons. MDMS is seeking Midday Meal Supervisors to join primary schools across North East Lincolnshire . This is a rewarding, part-time, term-time role that offers the chance to make a genuine difference to children’s daily experiences. You do not need prior teaching experience. The role is perfect for anyone who enjoys working with children, has a calm and reliable manner, and wants flexible hours that fit around family or other commitments. What the Role Involves As a Midday Meal Supervisor, you will: Supervise Mealtimes Ensure safety and good behaviour in the dining hall Support younger or vulnerable children during meals Encourage polite table manners and independence Manage Playtime Supervise outdoor and indoor play, ensuring children are safe and included Encourage inclusive games and social interaction among pupils Monitor behaviour and respond calmly to minor disputes Provide Emotional Support Offer reassurance to children who may feel anxious, lonely, or upset Be a trusted adult that pupils can turn to during lunchtime Promote Positive Behaviour Model respect, politeness, and kindness Consistently reinforce school rules and expectations Help children navigate social interactions in a positive way Health and Safety Be aware of dietary requirements, allergies, and medical conditions Administer basic first aid where necessary (training provided) Report accidents, incidents, or safeguarding concerns promptly to staff Teamwork and Collaboration Work alongside teachers, teaching assistants, and other lunchtime staff Follow school routines to maintain smooth transitions between lunch and afternoon lessons Who Should Apply No formal qualifications are required. MDMS is looking for individuals who are: Friendly, approachable, and patient Confident supervising groups of children Calm under pressure and consistent in behaviour management Observant, attentive, and reliable Able to work collaboratively as part of a school team This role is ideal for: Parents or carers seeking part-time work during school hours Retirees looking for purposeful engagement in the community Individuals interested in working in education or childcare Training and Ongoing Support MDMS provides thorough training and ongoing support to ensure you are confident and effective in your role: Full induction covering school routines, policies, and expectations Safeguarding and child protection training Behaviour management guidance and tips for managing challenging situations Continuous support from MDMS coordinators Opportunities to develop skills for further education or childcare roles This ensures you feel fully prepared, supported, and valued while contributing to a positive school environment.
