Job description
A respected and well-established independent school in Reading is seeking a reliable, practical and proactive Caretaker for a full-time, permanent role beginning January 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to join a warm, community-focused environment where premises staff are valued and supported. Job Overview Responsibilities include: • Opening, securing and overseeing the daily running of the site • Carrying out general maintenance, repairs and practical tasks across buildings and grounds • Ensuring safe, clean and well-maintained external areas, pathways and playgrounds • Monitoring heating, lighting, alarms and building systems • Supporting cleaning teams and liaising with contractors • Assisting with school events, set-ups and operational logistics The role requires a hands-on, organised individual who takes pride in maintaining high standards and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
