Job description
A well-equipped secondary school in Bath is seeking a skilled and organised Design & Technology (DT) Technician to support its DT Department. This is a full-time, permanent support staff role, ideal for someone with practical technical skills and experience in workshop environments. About the School The school has a strong reputation for academic achievement and practical learning. The DT Department offers students hands-on experience with resistant materials, electronics, CAD/CAM systems, and product design projects. The DT Technician plays a key role in preparing resources, maintaining equipment, and ensuring lessons run efficiently and safely. Role Responsibilities The successful candidate will: Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for DT lessons and projects. Maintain and organise workshops, storage areas, and specialist equipment. Ensure tools and machinery are safe, clean, and compliant with health and safety regulations. Support teachers during practical sessions where required. Assist with stock management, ordering supplies, and monitoring resources. Provide technical support for student projects and coursework. Help maintain health and safety standards across the DT department. Candidate Requirements Experience working in a DT, engineering, or workshop environment (school experience desirable). Practical knowledge of a wide range of tools, machinery, and materials. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Awareness of health and safety procedures and COSHH regulations.
