Job description
Location: Birmingham A forward-thinking secondary school in Birmingham is looking for a skilled Science Technician to join their dedicated team. The school is committed to providing a high-quality educational experience, offering students the opportunity to explore science through practical, hands-on learning. The Role: As a Science Technician, you will be responsible for supporting the Science Department by preparing and maintaining equipment for lessons, ensuring that resources are available for practical experiments, and maintaining safety standards in the laboratories. The Science Technician will work closely with Science Teachers and other Science Technicians to ensure smooth operation of practical lessons and assist with the delivery of engaging science education. School Overview: • Outstanding Reputation: Known for high academic standards and a strong commitment to hands-on learning in science. • Modern Science Facilities: Well-equipped laboratories that allow for practical and engaging science lessons. • Collaborative Environment: A supportive team of Science Teachers and staff who work together to create a dynamic learning environment. Key Responsibilities: • Prepare and maintain equipment and resources for Science lessons as a Science Technician. • Assist Science Teachers with practical experiments and demonstrations to enhance students’ understanding of scientific concepts. • Ensure the safety and cleanliness of laboratories, adhering to safety protocols as a Science Technician. • Support the Science Department with the organization of materials and resources needed for effective lessons. Requirements and Qualifications: • Previous experience working as a Science Technician or in a similar role in a school setting. • A good understanding of health and safety protocols in science labs. • Legal right to work in the UK and a clear DBS check.
