Job description
History ECT required January 2026 Mixed secondary school based in Stevenage History ECT to join a reflective and academically driven Humanities department Our Client is seeking a History ECT to teach KS3 and KS4 within a well-established secondary school in Stevenage. This position offers structured support from experienced colleagues, guided curriculum delivery and a clear professional development pathway for an Early Career Teacher looking to build confidence in historical enquiry, assessment and classroom management. School Information This 11–18 secondary school serves around 1,250 pupils and continues to produce strong progress outcomes across the Humanities, with History being a popular and well-established subject. The department delivers a carefully sequenced curriculum focused on analytical writing, source evaluation and debate. Teaching spaces are well resourced with digital archives, historical databases and visual learning tools. The school has a clear commitment to ECT development. New teachers benefit from additional planning time, weekly mentor meetings, coaching cycles, and carefully targeted CPD aligned to the Early Career Framework. Staff describe the culture as calm, methodical and professionally respectful, with leadership that prioritises consistency, communication and long-term career development.
