Job description
An established and well-regarded three-form entry primary school in Barnet is seeking a part-time Year 2 Teacher to join their team from April 2026 . The position will initially run until the end of the academic year (July 2026), with the opportunity to move onto a permanent contract from September 2026 . Location: Barnet, North London Start Date: April 2026 Contract: Part-Time (initially fixed-term until July 2026, with permanent contract from September 2026) Salary: Competitive – MPS/UPS (dependent on experience) ECTs: Not suitable for ECTs The Role The school is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Year 2 Teacher to work part-time within a strong and well-organised Key Stage 1 team. As part of a three-form entry structure, you will benefit from shared planning, established schemes of work, and the support of experienced colleagues. Key responsibilities include: Planning and delivering engaging, high-quality lessons for Year 2 pupils. Assessing and tracking pupil progress to ensure all learners achieve their potential. Working collaboratively with the parallel Year 2 teachers to plan and share best practice. Creating a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment. Communicating effectively with parents and carers to support children’s learning and development. Requirements Qualified Teacher Status ( QTS ) – no ECTs for this post. Proven experience teaching Key Stage 1 , ideally Year 2. Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and assessment frameworks. Excellent classroom management and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team. A commitment to high standards of teaching, learning, and pupil progress.
