Job description
A large and well-established 11–18 secondary school in Leicester is seeking an experienced and strategic School Business Manager to join its senior leadership support team. This is a key operational role within a school that prides itself on financial stability, strong governance and a culture of professional accountability. The School Situated in a busy residential area of Leicester, this inclusive secondary school serves a diverse community and has built a reputation for strong pastoral systems, improving academic outcomes and effective operational leadership. The school operates from a modernised site with multiple teaching blocks, specialist facilities and a growing Sixth Form. Financial planning and resource management play a critical role in sustaining ongoing development and curriculum expansion. Leadership is structured, supportive and forward-thinking, with clear lines of communication between senior leaders, governors and operational staff. The Role The School Business Manager will oversee the strategic and day-to-day management of: Budget planning and financial monitoring Procurement and contract management Premises and site operations HR compliance and administrative oversight Health & safety and statutory compliance You will work closely with the Headteacher and governors, contributing to long-term financial strategy while ensuring operational efficiency across the school. Key Responsibilities Lead budget forecasting and financial reporting Manage school procurement processes and supplier contracts Oversee administrative teams and office operations Monitor compliance with safeguarding, HR and health & safety policies Support strategic planning and resource allocation The school uses established financial systems and expects strong reporting accuracy and professional accountability.
