Due to increased levels of SEN, EAL, and speech and language needs within Nursery and Reception, the school is now seeking a skilled and compassionate EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team. Role Purpose As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will work with children aged 3–5, supporting their development across all areas of learning. You will work closely with the class teacher and EYFS Lead to deliver engaging learning activities and provide targeted support to individual pupils and small groups. A significant aspect of this role involves supporting children with SEN , including autism, speech and language delay, developmental delay, and social or emotional difficulties. You will help children regulate emotions, build communication skills, and access learning in a calm and inclusive environment. Key Responsibilities Support EYFS learning through structured activities and play-based learning Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional needs Support children with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, and communication needs Assist with phonics, early reading, mark-making, and early maths activities Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and independence Support classroom routines including transitions, carpet time, and snack time Assist with outdoor learning and physical development sessions Observe, assess, and record children’s progress and learning outcomes Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, speech therapists, and external agencies Support children with personal care needs where required Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health, and safety at all times The Ideal Candidate The school is seeking a calm, patient, and resilient EYFS Teaching Assistant with a genuine passion for inclusion and early childhood development.
