Job description
An outstanding independent school in Hertfordshire is seeking a talented and committed Year 6 Teacher to join their exceptional team from January 2026 . This role offers flexibility for the right candidate — available on a full-time or part-time basis — and is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in preparing pupils for senior school and beyond. Start Date: January 2026 Contract: Full-Time or Part-Time, Permanent Location: Hertfordshire About the School This well-respected independent school provides a warm, nurturing, and stimulating environment where pupils are encouraged to achieve their full potential. With small class sizes, excellent resources, and a strong pastoral ethos, the school combines academic rigour with creativity, curiosity, and personal development. Key Responsibilities - Plan and deliver engaging, challenging lessons across the Year 6 curriculum. - Prepare pupils effectively for entrance exams and secondary transition. - Monitor, assess, and support pupil progress to ensure high achievement. - Create an inclusive, encouraging classroom environment that promotes confidence and independence. - Work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff to enrich learning experiences. - Maintain strong communication with parents and contribute to school life beyond the classroom. Requirements - Qualified Teacher Status ( QTS ) or equivalent. - Proven experience teaching in Key Stage 2 , ideally Year 6. - A sound understanding of the KS2 curriculum and preparation for entrance assessments. - Strong organisational, interpersonal, and classroom management skills. - A reflective, dedicated, and inspirational approach to teaching.
