Job description
A well-led and increasingly popular 11–18 secondary school in Worksop is seeking a History ECT to join its Humanities faculty from January 2026. This school has a strong track record of developing early career teachers and is known locally for its calm environment and supportive culture. History is a valued subject within the school, with a carefully sequenced curriculum that supports both pupil progress and teacher confidence. The department places emphasis on strong subject knowledge, structured enquiry and extended historical writing. As an ECT, you will benefit from: A reduced timetable in line with the ECT framework A dedicated History mentor with regular weekly meetings Joint planning time built into the timetable Opportunities to observe expert practitioners within Humanities Your role will include: Teaching History across KS3–KS4 Delivering lessons using shared schemes of work and assessments Developing confidence in behaviour management within a calm setting Gradually taking on wider responsibilities as confidence grows This is an excellent first post for a History ECT who wants structure, stability and genuine investment in their development.
