Job description
A warm, intellectually curious and well-organised Independent School in Suffolk is seeking a Science Teacher for an immediate start . This school rejects superficial box-ticking models of teaching — preferring genuine understanding, careful sequencing of concepts, and evidence-driven teaching practice. About the Role You will teach Science across KS3–KS5 , in a department that values clarity of explanation, gradually layered conceptual development, and purposeful practical work. The Science team work collaboratively, moderating assessment thinking, evaluating student misconceptions, and revising explanations to ensure secure understanding rather than memorisation. This role is ideal for a teacher who: Wants to teach in an environment where students actually listen Values deeper learning and extended thinking time Enjoys discussion-based lessons and real scientific reasoning Finds meaning in long-term development rather than quick performance metrics School Context The school environment is: Calm, respectful, and socially mature Governed by relational leadership rather than hierarchical pressure Supported by engaged families and community relationships There is space here to teach well and think clearly , not just get through the lesson.
