Job description
A well-regarded secondary school in Southampton is seeking a dependable and proactive Site Assistant to join its facilities team. This is a full-time, permanent role, ideal for someone practical, organised, and committed to maintaining a safe and well-functioning school environment. About the School The school is recognised for its inclusive ethos and high academic standards. The Site Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the smooth running of the school by ensuring buildings and grounds are safe, secure, and well-maintained. Role Responsibilities Assist with the opening and closing of school premises, including alarm systems and security checks. Carry out minor repairs, maintenance tasks, and general upkeep of buildings and grounds. Support health and safety compliance, including fire safety checks. Prepare rooms and facilities for lessons, exams, events, and assemblies. Liaise with contractors and ensure safe work practices are followed. Assist with deliveries and movement of furniture or equipment as needed. Candidate Requirements Previous experience in a site, facilities, or maintenance role is desirable. Practical skills for general maintenance tasks. Awareness of health and safety regulations in school or public building settings. Reliability, initiative, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills and a professional approach.
