Job description
We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and hands-on Caretaker to join a well-regarded primary school in Milton Keynes , starting ASAP . This is a key role responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. The school prides itself on providing a supportive and inclusive community, with a strong focus on the wellbeing of both pupils and staff. As a Caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the school site is secure, well-maintained, and operating efficiently, allowing teaching and learning to run smoothly. Key Responsibilities Maintain the school premises, including classrooms, corridors, and outdoor areas Carry out general repairs, maintenance, and minor handyman tasks Ensure the school site is secure, including locking and unlocking buildings and monitoring access Set up and take down furniture or equipment for events, assemblies, or activities Monitor the condition of the building and report any maintenance issues Oversee waste disposal, cleaning supplies, and basic stock management Support health and safety compliance, including fire alarm testing and emergency procedures Assist with deliveries and moving of school resources Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment Work collaboratively with school staff and contractors as required The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Have previous experience in a caretaker, facilities, or maintenance role Be practical, hands-on, and proactive Have good organisational skills and attention to detail Be able to work independently and manage time effectively Possess basic DIY and maintenance skills Be committed to safeguarding and maintaining a safe school environment Be reliable, flexible, and responsive to the needs of the school The school is located in Milton Keynes , with easy access and a supportive local community.
