Job description

Location: Camden, North London Job Title: Intervention Teaching Assistant (SEN Focus) Start Date: ASAP Contract Type: Full-Time Salary: Competitive, depending on experience About the Role A forward-thinking primary school in Camden is urgently seeking a dedicated Intervention Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role is focused on supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) through targeted 1:1 and small group interventions. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for inclusive education , exceptional patience, and the ability to adapt strategies to meet each child’s individual needs. You will be working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement interventions in literacy, numeracy, and emotional wellbeing . Your support will help pupils overcome barriers to learning, increase confidence, and achieve both academic and social goals. Key Responsibilities Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions , aligned with pupil ILPs or EHCPs Monitor progress, record outcomes, and report findings to class teachers and SENCO Support pupils in literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional learning programs Promote positive behaviour and assist pupils in developing emotional regulation strategies Assist teachers with differentiated classroom activities and group tasks Collaborate with external specialists, therapists, and parents to ensure consistent support Participate in staff meetings, training, and ongoing professional development Person Specification Previous experience in SEN support, intervention delivery, or classroom assistance Strong literacy and numeracy skills Ability to work effectively 1:1 or with small groups Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Patience, adaptability, and professionalism Relevant qualifications such as Level 3 TA, ELSA, or SEN-focused training Desirable: experience with intervention programs such as Little Wandle, 1st Class@Number, or Lexia .
